There are environmental, therapeutic and holistic reasons to plant a garden.

Green spaces help to balance out urban carbon emissions, planted garden projects give communities an opportunity to work together, get fresh air, exercise and benefit from locally grown produce. Nurturing plant life is therapeutic, educational and purpose driven because good nutrition comes out of organically grown herbs and vegetables.

Greenest City, a charitable organization in Parkdale, Toronto is dedicated to promoting good health, social and environmental change. Every year they organize events that are aimed at helping local communities to develop a green, sustainable economy.

At George Herman House (a transitional home for women recovering from mental health diagnoses) seasonal, back yard gardening promotes positive social interaction, a green awakening and empowers a sense of independence. The women also benefit from the pride they experience at growing their own healthy food. This in -house holistic program is very much modelled after the successes of Greenest City and is dependent on fundraising efforts to be continued every year.

On Saturday March 3, George Herman House will have a Pop Up | Fundraising Table at Greenest City’s Seedy Saturday held in the Bonar Parkdale Presbyterian Church at 250 Dunn Avenue, from 11 - 4.

Greenest City’s mission is to enable local seed farmers to sell their products and community members to obtain free or exchanged seeds. The Board of Directors of George Herman House want to acknowledge Greenest City’s generosity to allow our Fundraising Efforts.

$2 Table of packaged McKenzie seeds and self published Recipe booklets.

100% proceeds go to George Herman House, gratitude to supporters & volunteers
